Trash Man

DSC_4026Every Monday morning, at 7:30, the trash man picks up our garbage.

Mo is always there, without fail, to watch and wave.

He always, without fail, waves back… just before he hops back on to ride to the next house. Sometimes the driver even honks.

I know it might sound funny, but it’s a beautiful way to start our week. Because it’s not about garbage. It’s about connection. It’s about finding beauty and joy, no matter where you are. No matter what you do.

Mo thinks (as do I) that the trash man has a very important job. She has told me several times that she would like to be a “Trash-man Woman” when she grows up.

And you know what? If she does, I hope she finds lots of little kids to wave to. Lots of little ones to bring joy to.DSC_4027

Hi Caitlin, this message brought back so many wonderful memories. All of our grandkiddies, Joe, Jess, Andy and Timmy loved trash day. They would stand on the bed in the downstairs bedroom and watch our trashman empty our barrels. We had 3 different barrels for the trash so that meant 3 trucks. It was a big event for them. Thanks for sharing such a sweet picture. Love and kisses to all, Gm. Frances and Gp. Bob

Don’t know why, but this was so sweet it brought tears to my eyes. I might be hormonal too, but that’s beside the point.
